Social SkillsDana Parrott, GCSD School Psychologist, led sessions on social skills. The first session focused on understanding verbal and nonverbal communication. Students participated in a group session using the following objectives:  recognize their ability to communicate without using words, analyze the importance of nonverbal messages sent, and practice using nonverbal cues to communicate. Session two focused on conflict resolution and how to resolve conflicts peacefully. The discussion centered on forms of negative communication that escalate conflicts. Students were given opportunities to practice good communication skills to deescalate conflicts.
